In Sweden, Västtrafik, the company who manages their public transportation system, created an app that allows people to get a virtual tour of places and sights outside the subway along their commute, using the GPS in the phone.
Ok – so this app probably wouldn’t work so well on New York subways (and coming up ahead, another rat), but interesting nonetheless (maybe for walking around the city) and a good advertising opportunity for local companies too.
